Make A Commotion
Creating Interactive Outreach – MICA
The Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) is one of the oldest and most prestigious art schools in the country. In both community and artistic endeavors, they’re driven by the art of making.
Creating a concept for the MICA Made video, our goal was to engage prospective students and raise brand awareness to highlight the impact alumni have made in the arts. Taking it a step further, we were approached to find an exciting, interactive way to unite MICA’s 20 graduate programs — Commotion Magazine came to life.
We designed a semi-annual magazine to connect current students, alumni, faculty and perspective students by sharing ideas, news and art.
Drawing inspiration from the belief that artists and designers create through explorative measures, we custom designed the concept for Commotion magazine. While the creative process is often chaotic and noisy, it’s also highly rewarding. With visually dynamic design, and vibrant colors – we designed the magazine to reflect the unique artistic process.
Designed to take readers through the creative journey, we created visually exciting and compelling layouts, with bright pops of color, dynamic typography and custom illustration.
This publication increased engagement and graduate enrollment. However, what we’re most proud of is Commotion seamlessly connected the disparate groups to create a strong MICA experience and network that extends well beyond the college years.
