Design Army partnered with Jen Liao and Caleb Wang, the founders of MiLa, to create a brand identity and visual design system inspired by their desire to share their Chinese heritage through food. Drawing from the couple’s “third culture” story, Design Army developed a brand that seamlessly blends traditional Chinese elements with contemporary aesthetics.
The identity includes a playful character, the "MILA soup dumpling guy," and a logo inspired by Chinese characters, bridging the cultural and language gap between East and West. As Mila scaled their products to grocery stores, we expanded the brand’s reach by creating packaging that mimics the organic shape of dumplings and using vibrant colors to differentiate and capture attention on crowded shelves. The cohesive design system spans social media, web, and packaging, driving growth, attracting additional funding, and solidifying Mila’s reputation as a rising star in the culinary world.
