HARPER MACAW
THE POLITICAL SERIES
For Green Hat Gin, we looked to the past to shape the present—drawing inspiration from 1920s newspapers and vintage hat catalog graphics to build a brand rooted in craft and character. The packaging system brings forward the story of George Cassidy, D.C.’s original bootlegger (a.k.a. the man in the green hat), through a visual language that feels printed, pressed, and personal.
Typography mimics classic headlines and classifieds, while label layouts echo editorial spreads from prohibition-era papers. The color palette—muted greens, aged creams, and stark blacks—recalls worn newsprint and vintage ink. Each detail, from debossed textures to illustration style, connects the spirit to its story.
The result is a package system that balances design and distillation—timeless, tactile, and tied to the legacy of the man in the green hat.
